Virus Removal

Viruses and spyware can range from the annoying pop-up to the total corruption of your PC or laptop. It's also possible for unwanted software to be almost undetectable but still be capturing your keystrokes or sending out emails without your knowledge.

The important thing is that when you think you have a virus or spyware on your machine that it is removed quickly before it can jeopardise your system and your identity.

@home IT can detect and remove unwanted programs from your system as well as ensuring that you are kept safe from future attacks by making sure your computer is suitably protected.

If a virus is particularly ingrained in a computer or a PC is infected wth many different unwanted programs, it may not be possible to clean it. In this case, we will advise that the computer is wiped and reloaded, ensuring that all the data is cleaned before restoration.

What we do

We'll carry out a number of scans and checks on your system to detect and remove viruses, spyware and unwanted programs. Should it be impractical or not possible to effectively clean the machine we will reload the operating system and software+ and restore the cleaned data.

How we do it

1. Bring your PC or laptop in to us or we'll collect

2. We'll discuss any specific issues you have with your PC

3. Create a system restore point before and after works and back up data

4. Run various scans and removal tools to detect and remove unwanted programs and viruses

5. If viruses cannot be satisfactorily removed, reload Operating System and applications+

6. Scan backed up data and restore clean files

7. Perform a basic healthcheck

8. Ensure Anti-virus software is installed and updating*

9. Clean PC inside and out

10. Go through the post works report and discuss any recommendations

+ Applications can only be reloaded if CD's and keycodes are provided and loading does not contravene any license agreements

* Please note that this service does not include the purchase of anti-virus software.

Why don't you offer a home service?

Thorough scans for viruses and unwanted programs can often take several hours so it's not really practical to carry out this service on site. Also, we have the facilities in our workshops to securely back up your data and clean it before restoring, should a reload be necessary.
